Had a great time. Kathy was very informative. Well worth the trip and filled with local knowledge and history. Loved that the tour was for small groups. Would recommend it.
My friend and I was really excited for this trip. We was picked up from the hotel down the road from the hotel, luckily we saw the bus arrive and walked to meet the driver. He spoke no English, so we didn’t really know what our plan of attack was. After around 30 minutes, we pulled up to a black vehicle, and we guessed we had to get out. Greeted by a man who told us to wait 10 minutes on the roadside as we are waiting to do the zip line and then the horse back riding. As soon as we sat down, we was told our horses were ready for us. We had an explanation on how to ride the horses, I was a little distracted however as a local dog was trying to urinate up my leg. We saddled up and was ready to go. The horse ride was bumpy but enjoyable. We had the opportunity to go at a leisurely pace or a little faster.
Next we arrived at the ranch, we was taken into a little shop, and left for 10 minutes. 10:10am we was taken to the seating area and told we was having our dinner, then would complete the zip line, however think it was miscommunication because we was brought some fruit out, and the boss who could speak English informed us of the correct itinerary, eating lunch after the zip line. So we sat waiting around 20 minutes to then start the zip line, which was explained and easy enough to understand. The zip line itself consisted of a grand total of 3 lines. And was a little underwhelming, but as it was just us two, we was allowed to go around twice, thank god for that after paying £80 for this trip each! We then was served dinner, which was a typical Dominican meal, rice, beans, chicken, spaghetti oh and coleslaw! We was also given the choice of sprite or cola which was welcomed in the heat!
After dinner we was told we was going to have a cocoa tour. This consisted of walking 1 minute around the building to see a few trees. A little added bonus he told us about the ginseng plant, a vanilla plant with no pods and a cocoa tree. Next we was shown how they grind the cocoa. That bit was quite interesting, except the fact he wandered off a few times to speak to the lads working there. Which left us wondering if they’ve done the tour before. There was opportunity to buy a disk with our pictures of the day, but the lady couldn’t speak English so we had to wait 5 minutes to get someone to help us, they cost $20. Back onto the horses we went, however we forgot one of the tour guides so waited on our own, for the other guide to go and get him. We then galloped away.
We had such an amazing time on this excursion. They let us ride fast with the horses and do whatever we wanted as long as we stayed with the tour guide. It was our favorite excursion out of all the other ones we did. Total freedom and the horses were so good for us :-). All of the staff we met were the friendliest people and very accommodating. We also saw these beautiful wild horses/stallions and a baby. These absolutely beautiful white doves flew out from the field and it was like a dream or heaven. I have them a big tip for making everything so special and fun. We love you guys!!
This tour was well worth it. I love riding horses and to add zip lining was a very cool combo. The staff was amazing and took good care of us and made us laugh. I would recommend this to anyone.
